FAQ

Here are some of our most commonly asked questions:

What is your worship service like?
All three Sunday worship services - at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:15 a.m. - are identical. Typically, the first portion of each service is focused on worship through music, prayer, and testimony. The major part of the service is a time of Bible teaching from God’s Word.

What is your worship style?
The focus of our music is to exalt the Lord and glorify His name through our songs. The music is contemporary in style and is selected to help direct our praise and worship to God.

What do people wear?
Our desire is to provide an atmosphere of worship and not to put unnecessary importance on dress. Although dress tends to be casual at Emmanuel, dressing up or dressing casually are equally accepted. You are welcome to come as you are!

Is it okay to bring my children into the worship service?
Children are always welcome in the services. We understand that some young children may find it difficult to leave their parents in an unfamiliar setting. We provide nursery care for infants and toddlers up to 2 years old during all three services. Our nursery workers are caring and compassionate and will do everything possible to make you and your child comfortable in a new setting.

Does your church have ‘Sunday School’ type options for kids and adults?
During the 9:30 a.m. service there are classes for those 2 years old through 12th grade. During the 11:15 a.m. service there are classes for those 2 years old through 6th grade. Various classes for adults exist in the second and third services, as well.

Do you have something for children and youth?
We believe God has established the family as the primary vehicle for Christian growth. Thus we provide solid children’s and youth programs to support parents as they attempt to grow children and teens into disciples of Christ. You may view our web pages or contact the church office at 360-352-9044 for more information.

Does your church have people from different ethnic groups?
We have people in our church from different ethnic groups. However, our ethnic diversity basically mirrors our community, which is to say that the most of our church is Caucasian. Yet we expect this to gradually change as the years go by. One of the passions of our pastor is to one day be an interracial church.

What Bible version do you use?
The most common version used at Emmanuel is the New American Standard Bible. This version is the translation of choice for the Bible teaching times, although our people use a variety of Bible versions.
